We arrived in Oban to board this very small cruise ship with a maximum of 49 passengers on board so we very quickly got to know the other passengers. Our cabin I can only describe as luxuriously furnished with fridge containing bottled water and cans of soft drinks, tv, tea making facilities and plenty of wardrobe space.
The majority of tables in the dining room are for 2 but as the ship caters for quite a number of singles there are two tables of 8 where the Captain or one of the Officers dine. Breakfast is self service for starters of which there is an excellent choice and then it is waiter service for the cooked breakfast of your choice, served from about 8am onwards. There is a good choice at luncheon whether it is a light lunch or a full three course served with wine. Dinner is served from 7.30pm again a choice of excellent food served with wine.
The majority of cruises are round the Hebriddean Islands so each cruise has a walking guide on board who after dinner each evening explains the planned walks for the following day, there is no other evening entertainment it is mainly chatting with your fellow passengers. There is no obligation to go on the organised walks, some passengers prefer to stay on board or just wander round the small villages at there leisure. There are bikes on board if you wish to borrow one which we have done and enjoyed, providing there were not a lot of hills.
We visited a distillery on Jura which was interesting especially the free sampling afterwards, also Torosay Castle on Mull. Unfortunately the weather turned stormy and we were unable to visit the Isle of Iona which makes a good excuse to go on another Hebriddean cruise as that was one of the reasons we chose that particular cruise.
These cruises are very expensive but everything is included in the price including all excursions, wine with the meals and drinks from the bar including champagne, also trips on the speedboat weather prevailing.
All to soon we arrived back in Oban on a lovely frosty sunny morning which was welcome after the storms of the previous two days. One good advantage is that we do not sail at night it is either anchored in a sheltered bay or docked.
